However, we got an anonymous tip with a screenshot of the Carphone Warehouse inventory system showing that a brown version of the seven incher might be in the works as well.

Google updates Play Store website, adds remote update and remote uninstall options

The Google Play Store website already offered a super convenient way to just push apps to your device but now Google has taken it a couple of steps further. Google has updated the ‘My Android Apps’, which until now only displayed some of the apps that you have downloaded on your device, to include the option to remotely update apps as well as uninstall them.

This is the new Easter egg in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Google has a traditionally been incorporating an Easter egg inside every version of Android, that can be viewed by repeatedly tapping the Android version number within the Settings app. In Ice Cream Sandwich, you could find the Android Ice Cream Sandwich logo and if you touch and hold it, it would expand and eventually you’d see a Nyan Cat style animation of the logo. In Android 4.1, you see a Jelly Bean with the tell-tale Android antennae on the top and if you press and hold the image, a large number of cel-shaded jelly beans appear on the screen and you can flick them around as much as you like. You can catch a video of this in action after the break.

Apple quietly quits claiming that its Mac OS X is virus proof

This might not be the stuff of major announcements and news releases, but it is likely a bigger deal than many of them. In the stealthiest of all fashions, Apple has quit bragging about the invincibility from computer viruses of the OS X operational system, which powers the giant’s computers. The change regards the marketing messages on Apple’s website, which highlight the qualities of the Mac operating system

Mozilla updates Firefox Beta for Android, bugs get squashed and stability is improved

No, this is not the big announcement Mozilla will be making at tomorrow’s Google I/O, although judging by the new features, it easily might have been. Just as usual, some bugs are squashed and stability is improved, but most notably, the look of the browser UI has changed.

Windows Phone user sends a disappointed letter to Stephen Elop, gets a response

esterday, Microsoft announced the newest version of their mobile operating system, Windows Phone 8. But while it’s a solid upgrade over the current Windows Phone 7.5, those who own the current devices have been left in the lurch, with just the new homescreen and a couple of minor features being offered as part of the Windows Phone 7.8 update. Naturally, the people are upset about it, since companies like Nokia were launching their flagship products like the Lumia 900 based on Windows Phone 7.5 not too long ago and people bought these thinking that they will be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 in future and get all the new features. One such customer was Luke who had bought a Samsung Focus in the past and then switched on to a Nokia Lumia 900.

Opera 12 released with customizable themes

Opera released the latest version of its desktop browser, Opera 12, which brings support for themes. Setting a new theme for your Opera browser will add a new background image on the speed dial and new tab page and would also change the colors the tab bar and the browser chrome. It’s not a terribly unique feature, with both Firefox and Chrome being able to do this for a long time now but it’s good to see it arrive on Opera as well and the implementation is actually pretty good. The few themes available on Opera’s site also look pretty good.

The flagship Galaxy S III has a redesigned MHL port and that’s incompatible with the previous HDMI MHL adapters available for other Samsung products The reason is very simple – despite the USB MHL port looks the same, the phone uses the connector pins in a different way. yesterday, Microsoft kicked off E3 2012 with some major announcements for the Xbox 360, the best selling console in the world. The first of the bunch is Internet Explorer for Xbox. It’s surprising that until this point there was no web browser on the Xbox, even though its rival PS3 had one since launch. Microsoft is now making up for it by bringing the Metro version of IE that we saw in Windows 8 on the Xbox. It will have full integration with Kinect so you would be able to use your voice to control it instead of using cumbersome keyboards in your living room.
